Yes Marcus is getting paranoid because if he slips up and makes a mistake he could possilby get caught by DHS. For example when he left his xbox on and there was a truck outside that had antennas on it and the rtuck was white. There was a guys that had a DHS uniform on and had a handheld device. Also with his father taking DHS' side also irratates him and he feels like his own father is against him.
Each time Marcus would log onto the Xnet; other gamers would bager him and go through the same questioning process. Marcus kept on finding quizzes asking for peoples age, neighboorhood, and school. These where questions that if answered, could point at a person who was using the Xnet and uncover who they really were. Marcus is paranoid the DHS has an undercover agent working in the Xnet.

Yes Marcus is paranoid. He doesnt sleep much because he cant stop thinking about the attack, the unmarked vans, and what happened to him and his friends when they were detained. Marcus is paranoid because he scared that his parents will fInd out the truth and that he will end up in another horrible situation like Darryl and be locked up and constrained. But then he gets a sigh of relief when his dad understands about the tracking devices used with the track pass . His dad got confronted about his pass because supposedly he had been to odd places that caused some concern. His dad was furious at the fact that he was innocent and didn't even go to these places. But Marcus's paranoia returned when the next day his dad was on the side of the DHS when he read an article in the news paper and he decided that the way they were avoiding people's privacy and checking everywhere they had been was acceptable .
Marcus was paranoid because he of course didnt want to get caught or have his lie unfold. But his paranoia went awa when his dad was on his side for once because the DHS had violated his right to privacy by cheking everywhere he went even though in all actuality he hadnt gone to any of those places. But Marcus's paranoia soon returned when the next day came because his dad agreed with then cheking their passes because of alleged terrorism so Marcus is in fear that his dad will not understad and he will eventually get caught and end up like Darryl.
