Now that you know a little bit more about reality, do you think that this book could be considered reality? How do you see parts of this book in society today?
Make a list of the different technologies discovered in the book so far and see if you can find something comparable to what we have today.
Look up information on the US Patriot Act. What is it and how does it relate to the novel?
I think that this book could be considered reality. I see parts of this in society today, like the skipping school, or the panic at the BART. Wi-Finder, is a real technology. So are bugs, Xbox-360s, and small spy cameras. The Patriot Act is a law passed after 9/11 that expanded the government's control over anti-terrorism investigations. It relates to the novel because it is the reason that Marcus and his friends were picked up and questioned, and treated so cruelly.
ReplyDeleteYes, the novel could be considered reality because homeland security works the same way and things that have happened in this novel actually happened in reality i.e. the terroist attacks. The parts in the novel that are applied in society are the Homeland Security of course, as a protecter of the Country, the terroist attacks, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe US Pratiot Act is an act with a purpose to punish terrorist acts in the United States and around the world, enhance law enforcement investigatory tools, and other purposes, some of which include:
- To strengthen U.S. measures to prevent, detect and prosecute international money laundering and financing of terrorism;
- To subject to special scrutiny foreign jurisdictions, foreign financial institutions, and classes of international transactions or types of accounts that are susceptible to criminal abuse;
- To require all appropriate elements of the financial services industry to report potential money laundering;
- To strengthen measures to prevent use of the U.S. financial system for personal gain by corrupt foreign officials and facilitate repatriation of stolen assets to the citizens of countries to whom such assets belong.
This book can be considered reality, simply because Marcus was taken out of his world and put in the charge of the Homeland Security. The reality that they could do whatever to him was apparent.
ReplyDeleteParts of this book like in the world today would be the mistreatment that came from the Homeland security. The police have been known to be violent to innocent citizens.
The U.S patriot act stops and punishes acts of terrorisim which relates to the novel because the homeland security punished the peopl ewho were suspected to be terrorists.
Yes, this book can be reality. They put real occurences such as 9/11 and references to the constitution. There is such a thing called DHS..they help protect people. DHS does keep an eye out on people who are marked as terrorists. It also names cities, places, stores, streets, and bridges that are real too.
ReplyDelete-Laptops
-Guns
-Cellphones
-Survillance cameras
-Internet (games, emails, etc.)
-Tracking Devices & Microphones
The US Patroit Act is to punish terrorist acts around the US and around the world. It relates because Marcus and his friends are accused of being terrorist because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time. DHS tries their best to punish Marcus for being stubborn but they keep an eye on him cause he is 'marked'.
I think the book could be considered reality because the same things that happen to Marcus and his team happens to suspected terrorists today. For example the Department of Homeland Security will basically kidnap you, interrogate you, and torture you to get the answers they want.
ReplyDeleteTechnologies that are in the book are some that can be plausible for what could be around today. The gait cameras in Marcus's school would be compared to face recognition cameras that are all over the U.S. today.
The USA PATRIOT Act is an act that was signed into law during the Bush administration. It dramatically reduces the restrictions on what the authorities can do to suspected terrorists. For example, now the authorities can track any records. It eased the foreign intelligence gathering, foreign money transactions, and the authorities and immigration on deporting immigrants that are suspected of committing a terrorist act against the United States.
This book could be considered reality because the situations that happens in the book can really happen in real life.
ReplyDeleteSome parts in this book also realate to society.Like how the DHS can really detain you if they have cause or reason.
In the book they have a camera that can identify a person just by the walk. They also have cameras like that in real life.
Also They do have equipment that can be tracked just like in the the library books in Little Brother.
It is a Act that states that law enforcement can us surveillance to catch crime and the use of many tactics.
It also state that it can use any information that is factual and can be proven to be true.
The US Patriot Act relate to the novel because the DHS is using many types of surveillance and also many types of information found though technolagies.
Yes i do believe that this book is starting to turn into reality.
ReplyDeleteComputer,cameras,and cell phones these are the few technologies that i can t think off the top of my head! The one most comparable piece of technology i think is the computer because that is what Marcus uses to communicate to everyone and him friends.
The US Patriot Act is an act created by the government to lower restrictions to get wiretaps email addresses and other communication devices it made it easier to get these due to the fact of the lowered restrictions. This relates to the story because they can be tracked for no reason and just off of suspicion and have no real probable cause!
yes this could happen in the next few years. the upgraded security in airports and schools.
ReplyDeletebotnets- we have those.
i think this totally possible especially now that the government is trying to censor the internet we have labtops and there are thing you can us to see what some one is doing on the web or just their computer i dot think its a chip though i think it is just a porgram
ReplyDeleteThis book has realistic qualities. Homeland Security is very much real. Bombers are in todays socity. Terrists are still a big topic in America, and they always will be. America today is, in a sense, racist. We dont trust certain races, but in reality we dont know who our true enimies are. They could be the guy sitting next to us on the bus, or a random guy on the street.
ReplyDeleteThe book has face recognition cameras-these cameras today are used to high officials, police, and a few other organizations.
Another device is the gaits, or walk dection cameras. These are not actually real. Someone cal easily change the way they walk and it can through the camera off.
Small spy cameras- These do not exist in todays world.
The US Patriot Act is basically a law that states that the law enforcement can be more harsh when they are trying to find out information about a terrorist attack. This act applies to the book because in Little Brother Marcus and his friends are picked up by DHS and questioned about the bombing on the bridge.
Yes. The government is trying to take over the internet just like in the book. The book has face recognition cameras in the hall way which are used in todays banks. Also the teachers can monitor the websites we get on or look at just like the book. It's lowered restrictions on the internet. This relates by how Marcus can do certain things in the computer and not get caught.
ReplyDeleteThis book could be considered reality because the government is able to envade peoples privacy without their knowledge and even if people did know they would not be able to take down the government. The government is able to see what we put on the internet.I think you can easily track a persons laptop like inside the book.
ReplyDeleteThis book could be Reality in the future.
ReplyDeleteSkipping school, gameing, chatting are all parts of reality today.
Face-recognition cameras, gait-recognition cameras,Harajuku Fun Madness,arphids in library books.
We have cameras and games and barcodes on books.
The US patriot Act reduced restrictions that the government has on technology.
This directly relates to the book because the can have different types of cameras and can track you different ways.
I think this book could become reality eventually. The government can invade anyones privacy without them knowing. Barcodes, cameras. THe US Patriot Act pretty much says they can use whatever ways they need to track us.
ReplyDeleteYes, this book could be reality. Just like in the book the government is already trying to limit some of our rights. For example just like the SOPA act the government was trying to pass, the DHS is trying to invade on the peoples rights. We need to stand up for our rights.
